Eh...about all the IJS has done is make the marks borderline-incomprehensible to the casual fan (and a lot of coaches) and make it easier to hide the cheating and holding-up in the nine (or ten? I forget) different "Program Component Scores", which aren't defined by the technical caller and with the 'name' skaters (*cough*Plushenko*cough*) frequently seem totally unrelated to what actually happened. Plus they make it take FOREVER to get the marks for each skater and you have no idea what they mean until the protocol sheets come out after the competition's over. Oh, and the judges are all anonymous so you can't tell who's vote-trading with who. Not to mention, I'm not sure how you could mark six couples at once under something like COP. It's designed around being able to watch each competitor's entire performance.
1 CRAIG SMITH and NATALIE WOOLF, South Africa 2 JESSE BENEDETTI and KIMALEE PIEDAD, U.S.A. 3 JOHNNY and ALEXANDRIA FRANCOVIGLIA, U.S.A. 4 ERIC LUNA and GEORGIA AMBARIAN, U.S.A 5 JOHN BEVERIDGE and BARBARA COSTAS, South Africa 6 MENTOR SEJDIU and ALLA PROFATILOVA, Canada
fyi, a lot of marks are at http://www.scrutelle.info/results/estelle/2010/blackpool_2010/, except for pro RS standard, and pro standard(tomorrow).
Excited to see the Standard results. So far Bizokas/Demidova, Fung/Muravyova, Gozzoli/Daniute, Soale/Cerasoli, and Karabey/Karabey have made all the finals; Giannico/Mikhed, Boyce/Boyce, and Krapez/Nigro have each made at least one.
1 ARUNAS BIZOKAS and KATUSHA DEMIDOVA (USA) 2 MIRKO GOZZOLI and EDITA DANIUTE (Italy) 3 VICTOR FUNG and ANASTASIA MURAVYEVA (USA) 4 DOMENICO SOALE and GIOIA CERASOLI (Italy) 5 GIAMPIERO GIANNICO and ANNA MIKHED (USA) 6 SASCHA KARABEY and NATASCHA KARABEY (Germany) 7 DOMEN KRAPEZ and MONICA NIGRO (Slovenia) 8 WARREN BOYCE and KRISTI BOYCE (England)
And 3 in the Cabaret. We need more Latin though...! A big thanks to everyone for the placement listings and updates.
Definitely happy to see all those USA standard couples up there. Cabaret I pretty much expected it. Seems top spots there have been pretty solidly USA or South Africa for last couple years
