Do you like Biagi?

Agreed, but they also fit their style to the song. They really need something mischievous and playful to dance well, and this did eke out the best in them, in my opinion.

I find myself wondering if Salón style, long steps, caminadas, and in particular dancing alone on a dancefloor can meet a sort of music that was written for small crowded venues with physical contact everywhere?

Biagi's version of Lagrimas y Sonrisas is probably my favorite vals ever.

Love the piece: but I've never thought of dancing it like THAT!

I aspire to that level of musical improvisation :)

WOW! Thanks for posting this. I have now run through most videos with Momo Smitt on youtube and I am still ecstatic.

One of the common ideas is that the dancer is part of the orchestra playing with the body as instrument; many times the dancers are floating on the music. Momo seems to have a much stronger personal hand here. He is taking out of the music the bits he wants to use for his steps and he continues to do so consequent.

Coming back to him later to see if the impact on me is persistent.

Welcome! :) He comes to teach at my town fairly often, and has been a major influence on my dancing. I've watched all the videos a good bit to get ideas on creative ways to use steps to the music. That's me recording on the most recent D'Agostino & Di Sarli video.

A question to you all in regards to Biagi: Ibanez, Falgas or Ortiz?

Ortiz gets my vote, but the other two are very fine too.
