Does anyone here have any tips to do a standing spin nicely (especially during the run) in Waltz? I always have problems slowing down into a curve feather :S. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRadNvKv05s&feature=related WSS Mirko and Alessia do that move beautifully at about 2:46 onwards.
I slow down a bit a couple beats before the exit, then absorb the remaining rotation into rise and shaping for the exit. If you are a lady, you'll have to rely on the gentleman to lead you through this. You'll also need to work out foot timing that has you coming out on the correct foot if you do something other than two steps per beat.
Welcome to the DF, ccher. I agree that you will find will find the best help to be at the lower before the standing spin, and maintaining the openness of the topline (that is not restricting the lady's movement by tghtening up). Not certain about the other, though. I believe that the lady's momentum is tantamount to this step working well.
