Is there any place one can go to learn this besides actually traveling to Cuba? Perhaps a DVD?
Would be a good idea, if you gave your location .
guaguanco is very difficult dance
You can learn Guaguanco pretty much anywhere that has an instructor who understands and can dance rumba Guaguanco. A DVD isn't very useful, it's better to get personal instruction, because there's a lot more intricacy with the movements than meets the eye. I won't go along with SalsaTanfolyam and say "it's a very difficult dance" because that's not constructive. If you dedicate enough time and discipline you can learn to dance it well, and then it's not so difficult - like magic!
Do some research and find out if there are any Cuban instructors who can teach you guaguanco. Here in Australia we have a few, some who studied for years in Cuba.
