    To admins:

In the previous software, there was a link one could click for "Today's Posts" or some-such. It showed everything that was posted that day, and I miss that functionality. Is it possible to activate that in the new software...or perhaps it already exists but I have not seen it?

Currently I use the "What's New", but that scrolls threads off the list when they've been viewed.

FWIW, found a workaround, though I'd prefer to have the one-click feature, again:
    1. Click "Mark Forms Read".
    2. Click "What's New?".
    3. Select "Mark all forums read."
    4. Click "view all recent threads".

That is my workaround too. I dislike it.

I'm looking into this. I agree its kind of a pain. So I'm researching how we might better set the permissions to something similar to what we had before.

I think everyone can report posts now.

Showed up for me... though I hope never to use. :)

The report link showed up. I reported your post. Did the report show up?
  8. hereKittyKitty Administrator

Not asking anything. Just an observation that I, for one, have seen a lot, lot, lot less random spam in the past week or so. It might be coincidence. I suspect that something has changed behind the scenes. Again not asking. Wouldn't want to post whatever it is and give the purveyors of spam a look at your secret weapon(s.) Just sayin. Unless there's a whole new army of mod staff or the spammers have somehow magically disappeared because they know they're unwanted (like THAT's gonna happen! lol) things have been much better.

Didn't the previous edition of the forum have naughty-word filters?

re;spam...sometimes it is just a matter of how busy one or another of us happens to be...but i also know that spam is among many projects that are constantly being tweaked.....

as to naughty words; the previous program caught some ....you are correct that it doesn't catch as many...I wish it did...

    *fake heart attack*

What!?!? You asking for a naughty word filter????

Say it ain't so, Joe! *grin*

Just wondering but how do you modify your signature?
  14. hereKittyKitty Administrator

FlashDance, Please follow these instructions(quoted above). Let me know if you see signature.

It's convenient so people don't have to self-filter.

    I miss the old emoticons...

Yeah. A know of at least one DFer who takes solace from using certain words and who used them here recently and got reminded about the PG-13 language limit. I'm sure that, in the old software, that person typed the actual words and found the same solace. But the language filter was there as a safety net.

And then there's that one with the kitten who takes a nap. Not one of my faves (which is why I don't know the code for it) but I know a lot of people loved that one.
