When I'm teaching a class I try to think about what my students seem to need, even if psychological studies say otherwise. I have no intention of explaining psychology to my students. I've tried, and they didn't seem to care. If a student wants to know what the numbers are, I tell him/her. If my student is getting confused by the numbers, I try a different approach. If someone just wants to know where to put their foot, that's what I tell them.
