Lester Espinoza and Shawnd'rae Nichole. I think Robert & Borbala beat them at Nationals, so this sounds like a better outing for them this time.

In professional standard, I was very happy to see that Igor and Julia's dancing is back to their usual, energetic, poetic self. They danced with a lot of feeling, a lot of emotion - it was beautiful to watch.

Interestingly both Giampiero and Erminio were watching from the sidelines.

As for Victor and Anna, they were dancing at the German Open - and came 6th in the Open Standard. Go Victor and Anya!!!

Hang on, didn't they used to dance for Denmark (or one of the other Scandanavian countries) as amateurs?

And J&K are doing worse. There was a point where they were beating Pino. It's a surprising result considering Mirko & Alessia have been kicking everyone's butts lately save for Tim and Joanne.

I don't think any of us actually saw how the couples danced at this particular comp (would be interested to hear if anyone did!). But one thing worth keeping in mind is that each represents a unique mix of artistry and technical style. There are some very real differences of opinion in the world today on how ballroom should be danced, and so depending on who you get on the judging panel there may be differing rankings - even before taking into consideration the possibility that some couples could of been having a good day and others a bit of the opposite. It's really hard to know the state of things based on one comp - it's even an open question how much a year worth of comps ultimately tells us, since just like the judges we are allowed to have our own preferences for what we want to see.

Very glad to see Pino placing on top again. Always liked him & Alessandra. Love Mirko, but wasn't too impressed w/ Alessia. I'd tend to agree with the results, despite I was not there in person :) I'm sure Brian & Marianne got a 'hometown' advantage. I personally prefer Victor/Anna to Brian/Marianne's dancing. But again, personal preference.

As for Nevada Star Ball, back to the topic...Why's Erminio on the side line?

I think lot of pro's - Erminio, Giampiero and Ieva - were there to dance pro/am with their students.

For example, Ieva has a partner now, but she only did pro/am at this comp.

I don't think J and K are doing worse, I just think William and Alessandra might be improving as their results are going up relative to all couples (including beating Mirko every once in a while and getting first in Quickstep in Blackpool).

I heard the results at German Open were suspicious (esp. in amateur, including youth and juniors) with all German couples placing a lot (at least several places, or one cut) higher than it was expected.
