Does anybody know if they're going to do the semis on Friday night for the pro-events or Saturday night with the finals? On the schedule it said "Final Round and Showdances".... (not final "rounds", so just trying to find out when semis will be held)

The Grand Ballroom is down by the entrance that is across from the Hampton Inn.

Can't you also dance Rising Star there still? RS Standard used to be on Sunday afternoon...didn't bother checking when it is this year.

Rising Star Standard & Latin are both on Sunday. Rising Star Latin is listed as the last event. The Sunday session ends at 7.

Does anyone know if there are entries fees for amateur events listed anywhere on the OSB website or entry forms. I know I've been through this before, but I can't find them anywhere.

On the paper printout on my desk says $35 for open am. They don't accept personal or studio checks, you have to purchase money order or certified check. The title of the check should be "Sam Sodano".

Thanks much. Is it the same for over-35 Standard?

ProAm championship events are similar: $60 on package, $85 if not. Less than other competitions I have been to this year.

not sure though. didn't pay attention and don't remember. sorry. However don't see why they would charge a different amount for over-35.

    Ohio Star Ball Question

Where is the pricing info for entries?

We're entering Novice 2-Dance Latin--cha-cha/rumba, samba/jive. It is category D on the form.

No price info on the Amateur form.
The summary sheet refers to "freestyle" entries at $30/35. Should I assume that my event is a $35 freestyle entry and send $70?

No price info under Rules & Regulations.
No price info under Tickets. (Not sure why it would be there, but it has to be somewhere and there is at least a use of the dollar sign in that area.)

If anyone could help me out, that would be appreciated.

P.S. It would really ROCK if OSB eventually adopted on-line registration and let you pay by credit card. To me, it would be worth paying a bit more not to have to get a cashier's check or a money order. But maybe that's just me....

Novice 2 dance - bronze, silver or gold = $30/entry so only send $30

This would be incredibly easy for OSB to do, if Sam wanted to. But considering that Sam's most important "customers" appear to be studios/instructors (not dancers), that online registration would require all prices to be plainly visible and that plainly visible prices would make it difficult for Sam's customers to mark up the entry fees, I wonder how likely this is.

Think of OSB as a wholesale operation and the studios/instructors as the retailers. Wholesalers don't usually make their wholesale prices public, nor do they usually accept orders directly from the customers of their retailers.

Right, because from a business perspective the practice makes all kinds of sense. When you have a marketing channel, you don't burn it.

Oh, whoops! Don't know how I missed that.

    Thanks Joe and syncopationator.

Oh, and I get that the on-line registration thing isn't going to happen anytime soon...and that's fine.

Just stating a preference for that which makes my life easier.
