in the video above, is the the way the frame should be for the dance? arms bent & hanging down, bouncing loosey-goosey... hurts to watch. but maybe that's correct???

I think thats more of a personal style point . Dont remember having used that approach,-- come to think of it, with the distance between the partner, a fairly strong frame would have been needed to develop lead .

    Remember, this was a freestyle
dance form, and surely would have been led and followed by different people, thus requiring firmer hold .-- the couple in the piece, pretty much new what was being led . Still really liked what they did .

This is an interesting song to dance the Peabody to:
Happy Feet by The Manhattan Rythm Kings from The Aviator (Music from the Motion Picture)

I think that couple are mostly swing dancers, so that might account for the looser frame.

Bumping this thread. After four years does anyone have any more Peabody song suggestions? I've got a few but even most of them are only around 50 MPM (regulation Peabody is 60).

The Girl With the Crimson Hair - Imperial Swing Orchestra
Got My Own Thing Now - Squirrel Nut Zippers
Enter Sandman - Richard Cheese (cover)
Don't Bring Lulu - The Andrews Sisters
Let's Misbehave - The Boilermaker Jazz Band (cover)
Ghost of Stephen Foster - Squirrel Nut Zippers
Simple Songs - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
When I Change Your Mind - Cherry Poppin Daddies
Hell but Swell - Zoe Lewis

Please share any suggestions you have - I could use them.

Bump -- any fun finds for peabody from the past five years? Or any other suggestions for good peabodies?

I always enjoyed dancing Peabody to songs like East Bound and Down by Jerry Reed. It is the theme song for Smokey and the Bandit - a ballad for bootleggers.

A few years ago, someone posted a list of one-word descriptors for each of the 19 dances. For Peabody, I'd suggest 'rollicking'.

"Peabody" (music) is a lot like quickstep (music)... only it's faster! Here is a CLASSIC peabody:

Why do you hear that as classic Peabody?

Mainly because of the "musical pace." It seems to match peabody. The "classic" refers to classic rock.

Is this Peabody? Certainly Lindy Hop. Perhaps Quickstep?
