:) Different locations + different measurement standards. Coastal CT, thought the summer was terrific because there was only twice the entire summer that a planned sail had to be cancelled because of the conditions. That has to be a record. (It included standing Monday and Wednesday sailing, so it wasn't just that we planned around the weather forecast.)

I hate hot weather. That's one reason I love the Pacific Northwest so much. However, this year, summer outdid itself. Day after day after day of uncomfortably (for me) warm days. Ugh. I hate sweating while sitting at my laptop!

I'd gladly have traded some of these days for some of your rain, fasc.

****Today, however, was absolutely perfect. Warm, but NOT hot, with a lovely cool breeze blowing through the trees. Bliss.

ah see...I sweat no matter what and I don't mind heat...but I really am one of those "dry heat" gals...I cannot abide the oppressive steam bath business...fortunately late sept and oct have been beautiful around here so I am hoping thhe rains stop in the next few weeks and I will at least get that...because you are right, if I wanted to live in the rain, I'd move to be near my grandbaby...which is where I'd rather be anyhow....

Wind is blowing like heck here. That storm up in the Midwest is sucking a lot of air from the Gulf.

Yup. Woke up about 3 AM to howling wind and rain. Looks like it's coming straight up from the Gulf.

Serious stuff happening in the Southeast. There have been tornadoes in Mississippi and Tennessee, and serious flooding is taking place in north and central Alabama. DW and I are doing our Christmas visiting, and we had to improvise a detour around a highway flash flood.

Stay safe. I am from the South East, and I know how treacherous it can be. Now I am in OC, CA. We are getting some pretty high winds today, which usually means that will move East, and we'll hear about it a few days later in Eastern weather reports.

Rain/sleet/ice hitting Chicago now, but it doesn't look bad, contrary to the TV weather wieners wringing their hands and sobbing while predicting our imminent demise.

Guess they're low on mayhem to report.

Ok, I know it's ridiculous to all of you in every other part of the country (and many here too), but today was the first snowfall that actually stuck. It was only a tiny little dusting, less that 1/4 inch on the roads of packed snow - no ice. But I learned my little car does NOT do snow. At all. First attempt to stop (from 20mph, mind you) at the stop light on the hard packed snow resulted in sliding into the intersection. Sigh. Managed to limp my way back home, and resigned to spending the day drinking cocoa and reading a book. Nothing I was doing was important enough to keep going. But a little bummed, because if it sticks around (and we're supposed to get 1-2 inches), this experience will mean I don't have a chance at getting to my dance lessons tomorrow. :(

Winter has finally arrived in MD. 13 degrees F this morning when I got in the car :( Cold is no fun without snow...
