Sometimes all you need is a day trip, a mini-vacation, not far away. There are always things that you can discover that are only within a couple of hours or less from where you are... :car:

From home turf. Had nothing more to do today so I drove out to Saguaro National Park East and took photos of our desert...

Honey Run Covered Bridge - Northern California

The back roads of any state can yield lots of treasures for a wayward wanderer. One such gem in Northern California is the Honey Run Covered Bridge in Butte County, between the towns of Chico and Paradise:

Hey, I recognize that place! DH's mother grew up in Mukilteo, and ... her uncle was the lighthouse keeper. He retired before DH was born, so he has no memories of the interior. When we visit DH's aunt in Edmonds we always make a pilgramige to Mukilteo to ride the ferry and see the lighthouse.

We got a snack at one of the eateries at the Ferry stop or whatever they're called. There's another lighthouse in West Seattle I want to see next time I'm there. It's located at Alki Point.

We always eat at a place a block or two uphill from the ferry landing ... I think it's called Arnie's. It has great views.

It's also great that Seattle is so close to one of my favorite cities in the whole world: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada...

I visited Independence Hall in Philadelphia this weekend, my very first visit. The place where the Founding Founders debated and enacted the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. Very inspiring...
