Glenn Weiss running for USA Dance President

The link to the form doesn't work, it just takes me to my personal gmail inbox. Not a member either, but would be willing to help share and encourage those who are to help.

Sprucing up my Standard gown - sewing questions!

I think we have similar aesthetics :) If it'll help, I just got a new standard dress made that's highlighter pink "toned down" with black. The effect turned out pretty well I think! Maybe it'll work for your lime green too. I'm now in the process of shortening/altering the floats, and stoning...

    MIT Open 2016

LE SIGH... I am back to not dancing again :( Broke my ankle and had surgery a week ago. Recovery's gonna take 3-4 months. *sob* So much for being able to kick knat in my shiny new dress :/ Depending on what the doc says during my post-op appointment, I will probably still try to make it to parts...

    Flexible latin soles

Pointing in them is a breeze! :p Well they're still kinda functional, just that the seam where they broke can get quite uncomfortable after extended periods of dancing. So no, I don't use them much anymore, but I do keep them around as a backup pair. :D Oh the joys of trying to stretch your...

    Flexible latin soles

Tangos with Tim: Lol no, I was just being facetious. Pretend-split-soles are just what I call my shoes after I've already broken the "non-flex" soles from too much pointing, yet am too cheap to throw them out and buy new ones. The effect: https://giphy.com/gifs/6OTWWzOzQpfzO

    Flexible latin soles

My "non-flex" shoes all eventually end up breaking in two at the junction where the ball of the foot meets the arch. So my sole choices are ultraflex, or pretend-split-soles. And I choose ultraflex over pretend-split-soles because my feet get red and sore and maybe even blistered from getting...

Do different height shoes change how you dance?

My recent pair of 2" Dance Naturals standard shoes are great. I also have an old pair of 2.5", also standard, from them that I bought close to a decade ago. I haven't really felt that the 2.5" was further back, it's more that they measured closer to 2.75" according to my ruler (and how it felt...

3 Capezio shoe styles side by side

When buying Capezios, I usually check www .dancefactoryoutlet .com first. If you're lucky enough to find something in your size, the savings can be pretty significant (costs ~$50 per pair). And yes the shoes run large, I am a street size ~8.5-9 and the Stella size 7 I just got fit me well...

    Shoe Woes

Wolfie, I just had an epiphany regarding your numb toes issue today! Perhaps you might consider wearing lower heels or checking your dance posture? So I was on the elliptical this morning (DP is making me work out >.<) in my comfy running shoes, when I noticed that my toes were weirdly becoming...

    Shoe Woes

I have narrow-ish feet too. Capezios do run large. I wear a street size ~8.5-9, and I just bought a pair of latin Capezio (Stella) in size 7 that fits pretty well. I've had good luck with Dance Naturals, they fit my narrow feet well and are pretty soft and flexible... at least I haven't broken...

Does anyone know where I can get wireless headphones that both partners can use to listen to music?

I'm interested in specific BT splitter recommendations too. We got one to use with our own BT headsets (different brands, if that's an issue?), but there was noticeable lag between the two headphones. Wasn't too bad for Waltz, just feels like one of us is rushing, but we would be hopping...

    MIT Open 2016

Got the answer! Firstly, the Novice offering is actually not set in stone yet. We're hoping to have it, but there are concerns about time. A decision will obviously be made by the time registration opens, but I'll update everyone if I get news before then. If it's offered the restriction will be...

    MIT Open 2016

I will ask about restrictions on Novice. My guess is it'll probably be based loosely on points too. So you might end up dancing with Gold dancers along with people with some Open/Pre-Champ experience, but hopefully you won't be getting any Champ dancers or high Pre-Champers on the verge of...

    MIT Open 2016

@Dancing Irishman, I checked in with the competition coordinators regarding schedule. The plan is to follow the schedule from last year, but with adding Novice to the open level rounds. But yes, that means Open Latin will be on Saturday. We currently have people working on housing and hotels...

    MIT Open 2016

Thanks Daphna! I'm excited to be back dancing as well! Will talk to the partner about MAC, although chances of us going is probably slim... Currently doing major choreography changes now, and with the holidays coming up we probably won't be ready in time :( We're have a team meeting for the...

Donating Dancesport Wear to College Teams

Hi Lorelei! I wanted to check in with you to see if your shoes and practice dress are still available? I just started dancing with the MIT team, and we are in serious dearth of costumes and practice wear for tall girls. I'm sure we could also use some shoes too; we always have newcomers, and I...
