Peach have you learnt LA style yet? When is our next dance going to be? I prefer a slow salsa if that´s OK with you.
...
  Yes, yes, yes. You and me dancing to "No Me Acostumbro" (One of my favorites as well) :) I've done LA and Casino. On2 is next.

OK then!! "No Me Acostumbro" to start. Then maybe "Sey" from Africando. We´ll probably have to bribe the DJ though...

I thought you only knew Casino... I can only dance LA... I want to learn Casino also. There should be a class opening up shortly at my studio. :D :D ON2 is also on my salsa calender, the problem is there is hardly anyone here in Lisbon who knows how to dance ON2...

I have the same problem MLS, but I'm determined to persevere. Peach and MLS are you talking of Ediie Tores on2, where you go back left on beat 1, back right on beat 2, left in place 3-4 etc, or power on2 where you start by breaking forward on 2 with left, in place left on 3, back 4-5? Just curious?

Thanks for welcoming me guys. It's always great to see people showing support for Salsa music. I've been a dj for 6 years now and I kid you not. The salsa radio station that I found online, that I mentioned earlier, plays almost all the songs you guys mentioned. I'm almost sad to say that I have listened for so many hours at a time that I got Salsa-lash...I had to take a break. :p Willie Colon Idilio has to be hands down one of Willie's greats. Sorry guys, no relation to Rey or Frankie...only in my soul!

Can I join you two? Sounds like it's gonna be my kind of night... Had a lovely dance to "Sey" last night. :)

Hmm, what can we get this DJ to make him play these songs. :) You, me and MacMoto will think of something. They teach On2 here Orlando, FL twice a month in group classes so you mainly have to take privates in order to really grasp it. :? Mostly casino and LA in my area as well which is also cool. :)

More Songs!!!

After coming back from the congress, I have 2 more songs that I want to add to this never-ending thread:

Both by Ray Barreto

Ray Barreto - Acid
Ray Barreto - Swing La Moderna

Hey I'm fairly new to the forum but I just have to post to this one. My favorite songs change every so often but right now I'm really enjoying:

Guarambembere-Bobby Valentin
Acid-Ray Barreto
Ave Maria Morena-Joe Cuba
Clave Mambo(?)-Joe Cuba
Welcome to the Party-Har You Orquestra
Merecumbe-Los Titanes
El Menú-Gran Combo
Azuquita Pal Cafe-Gran Combo
Sonido Bestial-Richie Ray
El Yoyo-Wayne Gorbea

There are more but those are the ones I have in heavy rotation right now. :D

I didn´t see these last posts... Hmm... Only a month or so late...

Of course you can join us MacMoto! Always wellcome!! :D

I´ve had some great dances to "Sey" also. The other day the DJ played it and I just grabbed the nearest girl. When I got to the dance floor I realised it was the most advanced lady in the place  . I had purposely never danced with her before because I thought she was too far above my level. We started dancing and I realised she was a little nervous, I could feel her shaking. Really didn´t expect it  . We had a great dance and I loved her smile. I don´t know what I was thinking, why hadn´t I asked her before... Sometimes you loose out because of stupid reasons... :(

OK, Peach and Macmoto there´re are several possible ways to bribe him:

a) Give him some extra cash.
b) Threaten that you´ll slash his tires.
c) Promise him that you won´t hire a professional killer...
d) All of the above

If by any chance I go to jail, promise me that you´ll visit for a salsa dance.

You? Go to Jail? Nah, we won't let that happen. :) But, a salsa dance in jail is cool idea. Instead of dancing to Elvis' Jailhouse Rock, it will be Jailhouse Salsa. Cool.... 8)  LOL!

That's great, MLS 8).
It's so easy to get into this "s/he's too advanced for me to ask" mindset, isn't? Yet not all advanced dancers are snobs, and there are many really good dancers who are also great fun to dance with.

So true. Life's too short to make excuses for yourself for not trying something...

Actually besides being very advanced, she was also a clique. This deadly combination made me hesitate before asking her for a dance.

To be completely honest, it was more the clique thing than her being more advanced than myself. I don´t get intimated anymore when I dance with ladies above my level (at least in salsa) 8) .

You danced with a more advanced person and you will look better then you usually do. :)

So True, Sagitta. We all want to look good on the dance floor.

More to the point, a more advanced lead/follower feels good.

If you feel good, you look good 8). Really helps a lot if he/she has a good attitude/positive energy.
