Really? Who do you have favored above them? Gilles and Peta look like the #2 couple to me, but she already beat him once, and trading in Mark for the Golden Boy should be an overall positive for her.
Well, I've got veeerrrry good feelings about Helio & Chelsie, Apolo & Karina, Drew and Anna. I think they're way more solid dance pairings than anything Derek can get, asides Nicole Scherzinger, who unfortunately isn't around. But then again, they're just feelings. And DWTS has proven itself to be so many other things other than a dance show.

The one I have dark-horse vibes about are Drew and Anna. Anna's gotten really popular and is overdue for a win. Yes, so's Tony, but I don't think Melissa will have the appeal to do it (Stacey would have had the 'wuzrobbed' thing going for her at least). Maks, also due...hm, Kirstie I can't see. If it were Mel B., again, then maybe yes.

I'm imagining Drew and Anna's tango already...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing Anna win either. Maybe she could pull it off with Drew.

Anna is actually my favorite pro on the show (by a comfortable margin), so I'd be delighted if you were right. I'm personally not terribly excited about the Derek/Shawn pairing. But I'm also fairly cynical when it comes to the show.

I think Derek and Shawn will be an example of "too many cooks spoil the broth."

I think it almost doesn't matter how their actual dancing is, the judges will fall all over themselves to praise it and the voting public will eat it right up. Again, I'm cynical. Possibly too much so. I won't be sad if the show proves me wrong.

Although honestly, the dancing should be pretty darned good. She's an athelete, she knows how to take coaching, and Derek really is good at the show's sort of choreography.

I'm just generally excited. I thought even Bristol Palin showed some promise in her last cha cha with Mark, so I say let's see it! Only thing that can make me unhappy is if Bristol doesn't live up to some of my hopes and makes it through based on the fact that it's an election season....

I give the girl guts for having the nerve (or some would say audacity) to return to the show. She does seem to polarize everyone, due I guess to her genetic limelight. But that polarization will just as likely hurt her chances as help them. I hope she can make her own limelight that is uniquely Bristol. I will be curious to see it as well.

And overall, I'm still very excited about the new season too Griff.

Gilles will undoubtedly be determined to "conquer" in the ballroom and being there with last season’s pro champ, Peta, seems like a great thing -- and they will make a very elegant pair.

My favorites last night (in no particular order): Kym and Joey, Tony and Melissa, Gilles and Peta, and Cheryl and Emmitt. I really like Apollo, Helio, and Sabrina too but I think the reason they weren't in my favorites had more to do with music and choreo than the actual dancing. So next week, my favorite dances could very well come from one of them.

Going home first (if there is any justice in the world) will be Pam, followed closely by Bristol and Kirstie. I feel everyone else is leaps and bounds ahead of them.

The level of dancing was pretty surprising to me. I guess during their respective seasons there were enough duds that it drug down the overall level of awesomeness. This is going to be an interesting competition to say the least. Love love love Gilles/Peta and Tony/Melissa.

Pam looked like she had checked out mentally. Not sure what was up with her. Melissa needs to watch the dance-porn factor. There's a line between sexy and kinky, and she was dangerously close to it. No offense to Tony, but that's something you'd be more likely to see from Maks or Derek. It was... odd.

I did not have high expectations of Kelly after remembering her underwhelming performances years ago, but she surprised me. Really sharp Cha movements. But was she well-grounded or just perfectly flung around by her Pro? Need to watch it again. I don't think I was paying that much attention since I didn't think she'd dance like that! But poor Sabrina wasn't grounded. She needs to dial it down and control herself or she's gonna land on her butt or fly into the audience. And Shawn? Weeeird Foxtrot. Way over-caffeinated. Eh. But Derek was never one for subtle performances...:p

Really wish they'd give them two weeks before elimination, but then again, they're not rookies and should know that they need to kick it into gear right out of the gate. But then I worry that many of them will push themselves so hard to stay on top that they'll wind up injuring themselves. Or their Pros :(

Yeah, it seemed like Pam took too much cold medicine or something.

Giles did an amazing job, very sophisticated.

Kelly surprised me as well. Plus she was actually smiling and looked like she was having a good time.

It's not a big surprise that Pamela Anderson was the first star voted off.

My favorite couples from week one were Giles and Peta, Helio and Chelsie, and Joey and Kim.

Just on pure dancing, it should probably be Bristol and Kirstie as the next two eliminated. But, they both have pretty good fan bases, so they could stay on for a while.
