Excellent point. Candyman is a good choice. Others include:
Let's Live it Up & Nosey Joe - Brian Setzer
Baby Likes to Rock It - The Tractors
Trickle, Trickle - manhattan Transfer (old, but still one of my favs)
New Orleans - Debbi Bailes
Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega.
Azucar Moreno's version of Tequila is fun if you slow it down. I've seen it played at comps.
I don't know whether this is "modern" enough, but Wake Me Up Before You Go Go by Wham! is a good one.
I second "Girls Gone Wild", which is fun. "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" (also by Travis Tritt) is good as well but I think it has to be slowed down a little (I have all the music off my pro's hard drive that he gave me, but I don't have the software that shows measures per minute or lets me adjust tempo, so I don't know if the versions I have is adjusted or not.)
Likewise to my ear, "S.O.S." sounds more like ECS in its original version, but it could work.
