I've never done this comp before... super excited about this one. For those who have gone before... advice? For those who are going this time... how are the preparations going?

I'm going! This will be my first time at this comp as well, and it has been my goal all year, so I am also very excited! Would be interested to hear tips, tricks, and thoughts from the veterans as well.

And hopefully I'll see you there deb! What/when are you dancing? I'll only be dancing rhythm, but will still be in town on smooth day.

I will be there...dancing in all styles...I don't like the new location as much as the old location, but, other than that, it certainly is a wonderful comp....not sure that I have any particular tips that are exclusive to usdc

I'll be dancing latin on Thursday, so I probably will only see DFs who are dancing that day. Hopefully I'll see others in passing though as I arrive the day before and leave the day after.
Tiny Dancer... rhythm is on Tuesday and Saturday??

Yes, pro/am rhythm single dances & scholarships are Tuesday. pro/am RS rhythm event & mambo champs are on Saturday. :)

I'll try to stop by to say hi on thursday! my pro will be competing in the open rhythm that night!

I'll be attending the show that night, so I will look out for you. RS rhythm and mambo champs sound very cool...!

I am going! I have never been to USDC before so this should be fun... Of course, I am not really going to experience the comp much as I am flying in and out right before/after my events. I will regret this later I am sure, but I wanted to limit the amount of days taken off work, so I can take more days off around OSB (my family lives in Cleveland), and the holidays.

So, how is it navigating the ballroom/hotel if you aren't staying in the comp hotel, but staying down the street? Anything in particular to consider?

if you mean off of disney property, just leave alot of extra time...as the window for needing to be in the ballroom at usdc is one hour whereas for most comps it is only half an hour

Good to know - thanks!! The hour vs. half an hour thing is definitely one of those easy to miss details.

I'll be on Disney property (tried the off-site thing before at Disney World - HUGE time waster), just not at that hotel.

agree...I know that for some people it is a financial neccessity, but I would never go to disney and stay offsite...ever again...you needn't say where you are, but if you are on site transportation to that area is generally very good....

What's the dress code typically like for spectators in the evening sessions, particularly early in the week?

And I am so bummed that the put the RS rhythm and mambo champs on Saturday with everything else on Tuesday...I would enter a lot more if there wasn't a three day break between them. Just not worth the extra cost of staying.
